Branko Lovak

Branko Lovak was born on July 25, 1944 in the village of Hlebine, Croatia and left this world in 1983. He began to draw in early childhood, and at the age of thirteen he took part together with adult artists in his first collective exhibition. He was taught drawing and painting in the basic school by the most famous artist of Hlebine, the patriarch of the Croatian naïve – Ivan Generalić, who at that time worked as an ordinary teacher. After his graduating from the eight-year school, Branko received instructions and advice from Generalic for many years. During his short artistic carеer he had several solo exhibitions and took part in many collective exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. The artist’s name was included in the World Encyclopedia of Naive Art.
