Hristo Hristov-Yoshkata was born on April 17, 1938 in the village of Varbitsa, Pleven region. He graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia in 1969 with a major in Graphics and Illustration in the class of Prof. V. Staykov. From 1974 on, he participated in national and international exhibitions. His works are owned by the National Art Gallery and the Sofia City Art Gallery, art galleries in Bulgaria and private collections in Bulgaria, France and other countries. He lived and worked in Pleven until his death in 2014.
