Despoena Leonis was born in 1960 in Thessaloniki, Greece. He holds a master’s degree in English and American literature from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki. She has worked for more than 30 hours as a teacher and has recently retired. She draws as a child, but only after retirement is she fully committed to the arts. She is self-taught and embodies in her paintings the feelings and memories of her past as well as the history of her city. So far there have been several exhibitions in Greece and 4 exhibitions abroad – two in Israel, Canada and Barcelona.
